Kym had experienced for herself the very powerful benefits of performing arts, and was keen to share these benefits with others. Having studied drama & performing arts since she was a child, Kym was particularly interested in the benefit that performing arts offered to children. As a mum herself, Kym knew that the cost of drama classes was prohibitive to many parents, and she set up Starz Drama School to offer fun and engaging performing arts classes that didn’t break the bank.

Starting in the seaside town of Seaham, County Durham, Starz Drama School quickly grew into the neighbouring areas of Wearside and North Yorkshire. The timetable expanded too, with new drama, singing, dancing, and gymnastics classes being added to cater for the growing demand.

Today, Starz Drama School classes are attended by hundreds of children every week. We welcome children from the age of four years old, and many of them stay with us well into their teenage years. We offer a caring and nurturing environment, and classes that are fun-filled and perfectly designed to build a child’s social, emotional, and physical capabilities.

Our mission is simple. We want every child to have the opportunity to experience the benefits of performing arts & drama classes. We believe that these benefits should be available to all, and that cost should not be a barrier.

We love what we do, and we do it with pride and passion. Our classes are all about building a child’s confidence. While some of our Starz do go on to have careers on the stage, for us success is all about watching a child grow, develop, and learn.
